Norms & Standards 7th seminar took place on December 16-17th in NSAU

The seventh workshop on norms and standards took place at NSAU on December 16-17th, 2009. It was conducted by Mr Martin Pilgram, specialist in communication and Groundstations in the Space Operations and Astronaut Training section of the German Aerospace Centre (DLR). Mr Lev Semenov, head of section of Orbital complexes and certification of Rocket and Space techniques of NSAU led the Ukrainian team. The workshop was opened by Mr Eduard Kuznietsov, NSAU deputy general director and was attended by roughly 20 specialists in Standardization from various companies, including KB Yuzhnoye, Yuzhmash from Dnepropetrovsk, Khartron, Kommunar from Kharkov, Kievprylad, Radiozavod, Ukrkosmos... from Kiev.

The session covered three areas
• CCSDS (Consultative Committee for Space Data Systems) being ISO TC20/SC13
• ECSS (E-50/70) as the technical part of ECSS and
• ISO TC211, which deals with covers the ISO 19100 series of books dealing with geographic information systems
Most of the time is given on the CCSDS part, showing how CCSDS is organized and working and on its standards. A short excurse is given on ECSS and TC211.
