A first high level seminar was organized with NSAU on November 26-27th 2008 and gathered in the Conference Hall of PAO about 40 participants. We were able to convince key GMES players from EU and from ESA, as well as from the Industry to participate to this seminar as guest-speakers (they come at their own expense). Four experts from DLR completed the German team. Two additional German experts from the Galileo program attended as observers. The seminar was opened by Mr Eduard Kuznietsov, deputy general director of NSAU. On the Ukrainian side Mr Oleg Fedorov, director of the Space Researche institute, and NSAU Research department director, led an impressive team gathering all Ukrainian players in GMES as well as representatives from the Ministry of Agriculture and the Agrarian Academy as end-users.
The objectives (presentations of the GMES European program and GEO-UA Ukrainian program, opportunities to participate to GMES program, role to play…) and the expectations (joint understanding, identification of opportunities and partnerships…) were almost totally fulfilled.

This second workshop, held on week 41 (October 6-10th, 2008) was based on real cases and gathered roughly 30 attendees from more then 20 organizations (institutes, universities, design offices and companies). The workshop was opened by Mr Eduard Kuznietsov, deputy general director of NSAU. The first morning was devoted to review and analyze the Ukrainian previous proposals to the first FP7 Space call . The afternoon was used to review the actual proposals to the ongoing Space tender call. They were split in two groups, a GMES one and a Space Foundations one. The following day allowed the in-depth analysis of the proposals (in the morning by groups) and the selection of four “mature” projects for the next workshop (in the afternoon in a plenary session).
